Second Star Properties LLC ("Second Star Properties," "we," "us," or "our") operates 52 Build, including the website 52-build.com and the 52 Build construction project management platform, including the web application at app.52-build.com, the 52 Build iOS application, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you create an account and use 52 Build, you provide us with:
- Account information — your name, email address, phone number, and password
- Company information — your company name, address, contractor license number, and business details
- Project data — project names, addresses, scope of work, pricing, schedules, contracts, change orders, and related construction project information
- Communications — messages you send through the platform to team members, clients, and subcontractors
- Documents — contracts, estimates, work orders, and other documents you create or upload
- Media — photos and audio recordings you capture through the app
- Financial information — project budgets, estimates, markup percentages, and pricing data (we do not collect bank account numbers, credit card numbers, or social security numbers through the app)
Information Collected Automatically
When you use 52 Build, we automatically collect:
- Location data — GPS coordinates when you use features like weather forecasting, jobsite matching, or Quick Capture. Location data is collected only while you are actively using the app and only with your device's permission.
- Device information — device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility
- Usage data — which features you use and when, to improve the Service
Information from Third Parties
We do not purchase or receive your personal information from third parties.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the Service — manage your projects, generate estimates, create contracts, track budgets, and facilitate communication between project participants
- Process audio and text — transcribe voice recordings and generate AI-assisted content like scope items, daily logs, and project narratives
- Deliver weather data — provide location-based weather information relevant to your construction projects
- Communicate with you — send transactional emails (password resets, project invitations, notifications), and service updates
- Improve the Service — analyze usage patterns to improve features and fix issues
We do NOT use your information to:
- Sell your data to third parties
- Display advertisements
- Build advertising profiles
- Share your data with data brokers
How We Share Your Information
With Project Participants
When you invite clients, subcontractors, or team members to a project, they can see project data relevant to their role. Clients see project progress, schedules, and documents. Subcontractors see their assigned scope items and work orders. Team members see project details based on their permission level. No participant can see another builder's projects or company data.
With Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate 52 Build:
- Supabase (database, authentication, file storage) — stores your account and project data on US-based servers
- Deepgram (speech-to-text) — processes audio recordings you submit for transcription. Deepgram processes audio data and returns text; they do not retain your audio after processing.
- Anthropic (AI processing) — processes text content to generate scope items, daily log summaries, and project narratives. Anthropic does not use your data to train their AI models.
- GitHub Pages (app hosting) — hosts the application code only; no user data passes through GitHub.
We require our service providers to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
As Required by Law
We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
Data Security
We protect your information using:
- Encryption in transit — all data transmitted between your device and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Encryption at rest — your data is encrypted on our database servers
- Row Level Security — database-level access controls ensure that each builder's data is isolated. No builder can access another builder's projects or company information.
- Authentication — password-based authentication with bcrypt hashing. Optional two-factor authentication is available for accounts with financial data access.
- API key protection — third-party API keys (for AI and transcription services) are stored server-side and never exposed in client-side code
No system is perfectly secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
- Active accounts — your data is retained as long as your account is active
- Cancelled accounts — your data is preserved for 90 days after cancellation, then deleted. This grace period allows you to reactivate your account or export your data.
- Project data — project data may be retained longer than account data if other active participants (clients, subcontractors) still have access to the project
- Signed documents — contracts and signed documents are retained indefinitely as they serve as legal records for all parties
Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access your data — view all personal and project data stored in your account
- Correct your data — update your account information, company profile, and project data at any time
- Delete your account — request account deletion by contacting us at contact@52-build.com
- Export your data — request a copy of your project data in a standard format
- Control location access — enable or disable location services through your device settings
- Control notifications — manage email and push notification preferences in your account settings
California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
Children's Privacy
52 Build is a business tool designed for construction professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at contact@52-build.com and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
Text Messages (SMS)
If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, Second Star Properties LLC may text you about your project: schedule and progress updates, documents to review or sign, invitations to the 52 Build project portal, and replies to your questions. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase or service.
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or your text-messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, except the service providers that deliver our messages on our behalf.
